Place the whetstone on an absorbent towel with the rubber base facing down for stability.
Add a small amount of water and spread it evenly with your hand.
Disassemble the comb blade and place it on the stone with the writing facing you.
Apply even pressure across all sides of the comb blade.
Move the blade up & down the stone, maintaining steady pressure.
Sharpen for up to one minute (depending on blade dullness).
Rinse and dry thoroughly before storing.

Pre-Use Preparation: Before sharpening, soak the whetstone in water for a few minutes until no air bubbles emerge. This saturation prevents damage and enhances sharpening efficiency.
During Use: Keep the stone's surface consistently wet throughout the sharpening process to maintain its effectiveness.
Cleaning After Use: After sharpening, rinse the whetstone thoroughly with water to remove metal particles and debris. Use a stiff nylon brush if necessary to scrub off any residue.
Drying: Allow the whetstone to air dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
Storage: Once fully dry, store the whetstone in its original box or wrap it in a breathable material like newspaper. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture-related damage.
Regular Flattening: Over time, whetstones can develop uneven surfaces. Periodically check for flatness and, if needed, use a flattening plate or rub the stone against a coarse surface to restore its evenness.
Avoid Oils: Use only water for soaking and cleaning your whetstone. Applying oils or other lubricants can clog the stone's pores and diminish its sharpening capacity.
